Boniface Hiers Community Involvement
For over 34 years, Boniface Hiers Auto Group has been actively involved in giving back to our local community. The following is a brief summary of the organizations that we have had the privilege of contributing to:
In the early 1990's AJ Hiers met a man named Joe Steckler who had started a non profit organization to help people who were stricken with Alzheimer's Disease. AJ was very touched by Joe's passion for the organization and his determination to help every person he possibly could. AJ decided to get involved and had an idea to use his good fortune in the auto business to help. AJ donated a car to the Brevard Alzheimer's Association and the fundraising began. The group sold raffle tickets for the car and the event was so successful, they two continued to raise money for the next 22 years. AJ donated 22 cars and helped to raise millions of dollars for BAA.
In addition to his involvement with BAA, AJ has donated to, and helped to raise money for several other organizations in Brevard County.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter- For several years now, AJ has paid for all the food needs for all the animals in the Brevard County Sheriff's Animal Shelter. As well as holding events and paying for adoptions several times per year.
Helping Seniors Brevard- Continuing his philanthropic support of his friend Joe Steckler, AJ donates vehicles every year for Joe and his organization to raffle off. Proceeds have amounted to several hundred thousand dollars and still counting!
Eastern Florida State College- AJ has supported scholarships and capital needs for the local College by making substantial annual donations.
Brevard County Sheriff's Charity- Keeping in line with the car auction theme, AJ responded to Sheriff Wayne Ivey's request for help with his First Responder's Charity by donating a Dodge Charger Hellcat that raised over $60,000 for the charity. AJ continues to work on raising money for the organization today.
Hero Appreciation Event- Several years ago AJ launched a Hero Appreciation Event at the dealerships by offering special incentives and Free gifts to Active Military, Retired Military, both Active and Retired First Responders and Law Enforcement Personnel.
Most recently, AJ donated a 1987 Buick Grand National from his private collection to raise funds for the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Tampa, FL. AJ teamed up with The Azan Shiners of Melbourne to sell tickets for a drawing that was held on May 23, 2024 at Boniface Hiers Chevrolet in Melbourne, FL. AJ also covered all of the expenses of this fundraiser so that 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
